At Recess, we approach every challenge from both a creative and a strategic standpoint. We begin by learning as much about a company as possible. From there we consider the competition - and more importantly the target - in order to develop a compelling creative strategy that will achieve a client’s goals.
It starts – like everything we do – with discovery. Keeping requirements and functionality in mind, we’ll put our heads together and form a plan of attack. We’ll map out the project, create a timeline, complete an analysis of the competitive landscape and prepare the team as they move towards execution.
Using your brand guidelines and our experience and knowledge of best practices, we’ll dig into the look and feel of creative approach. After exploring several design iterations, we’ll narrow down our options and together we’ll decide on a final approach. Then it’s time to prep all of the visual elements for development & execution.
Here we see our concepts and visual design come to life. Whether we’re developing a new technology platform, mobile application or executing against the media plan, we begin the integration and push the creative live.
Ensuring continuous, reliable delivery and measurement is no simple task. But at Recess, it’s at the forefront of our process. We test early and often, across a broad cross-section of devices and browsers by using both human and automated testing. Once live, we dissect the analytics and partner with you to make use of the data collected.
Chris is a man of many words – he literally never stops talking (or singing). A designer and photographer in his past life, he provides thought leadership, moral support and serves as a distraction to the team in important meetings. Since day one at Recess, he's worked relentlessly to build a creative team that's been recognized as an industry leader by folks like the Webby Awards, The Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts and his Mom.
[MUSIC HITS] – Hailing from the rural streets of New Phila, OH, Chad brings over a decade of rich web, game and app expertise to Recess. From his amateur roots as a gym class hero to his professional championships at Webbys XVI and SXSW Accelerator MMXIII, he continues to be a competitive leader with a passion for innovation.
Over the past 15 years, Pat has held various leadership roles in Accounting/Finance. He's an avid Cleveland Sports Fan and proud Ohio University Alum. When he's not quoting a 90's movie or appearing on Wheel of Fortune (yes, he was on the TV show), Pat and his wife are chasing around their three kids
With roots in art school admissions followed by a decade of enrollment management for a public university in SW Montana, Catherine decided to come home and take on the management of our most excellent office. After 25 years of traveling, she is happy to stay put and rediscover the joys of Cleveland.
Through all of Rachel's professional experiences she has obtained a broad knowledge of the digital and social media landscape, and have acquired many skill sets that make her a dynamic marketing professional. She brings motivation and dedication to the table as well as the capability to handle multiple projects at one time (when she's not traveling the world).
Bill provides leadership at the account and project levels at Recess. He has over 114 years of agency experience in business analysis, marketing strategies, and project management with a strong technical background. Bill has led award winning projects from web design to mobile applications.
Equipped with hands-on marketing expertise, detailed project plans and a smile, Jen loves getting her hands dirty coordinating the execution of online and offline marketing initiatives. When she's not buried in her inbox, she's likely playing with her kids or (attempting) DIY house projects!
Emily is an avid boot camper and claims to be a retiring distance runner, although she’s still attempting to run long distances. She’s mildly obsessed with her dog, #mozthepuggle and Starbucks. When she isn’t blogging, she’s with family and friends or DIYing/creating things… for her blog. Oh, and for fun, Emily manages project timelines, budgets and client expectations like a pro.
Gina is passionate about solving problems, designing meaningful experiences and creating clarity out of chaos. Her claim to fame as a former college radio DJ has shaped her love for 80s classic rock and shoegaze. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors, knitting socks, thrifting and playing chess.
AJ, better known as @216aj, is a born and raised die-hard Clevelander. He’s had a passion for fancy letters and design since his younger graffiti days. If AJ’s not at a CLE sporting event, he’s probably busy instagramming his daily adventures around #Cleveland.
Jake is not from State Farm. He does not wear khakis. He does not answer the phone at 3:00 in the morning. However, Jake is a national award winning graphic designer and recent graduate from Myers School of Art. He enjoys the simple things in life: the typeface “Din,” black & white things, and motorcycles. He also aspires to be Ryan Gosling’s character from “Drive.”
Originally from Erie, PA, Kayla brings her Tardis mug, and her love for the Pittsburgh Steelers into the office everyday. (Yes, there is a Terrible Towel on her desk.) She is obsessed with all things color, whether that's "ooing and aahing" at Pantone books, or sporting bright yellow rain jackets! When she’s not designing, you can catch her reading, roller blading, or gushing about the latest superhero show.
If you think it is impossible to turn a game of solitaire into a head to head competition, then you haven’t met Liv. Her love of games, puzzles, and competition extend to her love for code, because she can solve the puzzle of taking a design and duplicating it using whatever language comes her way.
Andrew is a student graphic designer at Myers School of Art in Akron, OH. He is competitive, loves a good challenge and is always looks for an opportunity to learn something new. He enjoys a wide range of music from Movie Scores to Neolithic tribal chanting. Andrew enjoys simple, clever, and fresh design, playing guitar, and relaxation
