Summary

 Today, one in four Cleveland children test positive for lead poisoning before Kindergarten, with lead-based paint and dust in structures constructed before 1978 representing the most common form of lead exposure. Recess Creative worked alongside the Lead Safe Cleveland Coalition (LSCC) to develop a comprehensive awareness campaign to educate Clevelanders on the dangers of lead, along with the resources and funding available to owner-occupied and rental property owners for remediation and clearance.

Members of Cleveland families and others most at-risk for lead exposure represented the "Faces of Lead," with several residents acting as storytellers to build awareness around lead safety along with support available to both tenants and property owners.

To guide owner-occupied and rental property owners in obtaining "Lead Safe Certification," the Recess team executed an integrated media campaign in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, conducting interviews, distributing stakeholder surveys, and directing a photoshoot in support of the mission to eliminate an invisible enemy from our city's future for good.
